Paternity
When a child is born to parents who are not married, many of the same decisions have to be made as in a divorce matter. First, the father of the child must be determined by the Court, usually after DNA/genetic testing to confirm Paternity. Similar to a divorce, once Paternity is determined, the parents need to deal with issues related to custody, placement and child support. We will work with you through the process of the initial determination of Paternity and, if Paternity is established, through the decisions to be made regarding placement, custody and child support.
